Daily Bread

=E2=80=9CAfter the death =
of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Mos=
es=E2=80=99 aide: =E2=80=9CMoses my servant is dead. Now then, you and al=
l these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am ab=
out to give to them=E2=80=94to the Israelites. I will give you every plac=
e where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will exten=
d from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates=E2=80=
=94all the Hittite country=E2=80=94to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. =
No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I =
was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake=
you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inh=
erit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. =E2=80=9CBe strong=
and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gav=
e you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be s=
uccessful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;=
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everythin=
g written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not c=
ommanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be disco=
uraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.=E2=80=9D =
So Joshua ordered the officers of the people: =E2=80=9CGo through the cam=
p and tell the people, =E2=80=98Get your provisions ready. Three days fro=
m now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the =
land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.=E2=80=99=E2=80=86=E2=80=
=9D But to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Jo=
shua said, =E2=80=9CRemember the command that Moses the servant of the Lo=
rd gave you after he said, =E2=80=98The Lord your God will give you rest =
by giving you this land.=E2=80=99 Your wives, your children and your live=
stock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but al=
l your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fell=
ow Israelites. You are to help them until the Lord gives them rest, as he=
has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land t=
he Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy y=
our own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jo=
rdan toward the sunrise.=E2=80=9D Then they answered Joshua, =E2=80=9CWha=
tever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will =
go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord=
your God be with you as he was with Moses. Whoever rebels against your w=
ord and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to d=
eath. Only be strong and courageous!=E2=80=9D=E2=80=9D =E2=80=AD=E2=80=AD=

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,=
You have commanded me to be strong and courageous. I will not fear or be=
discouraged, for You are with me wherever I go. Help me to trust in Your=
Word, walk in obedience, and step forward in faith. Fill me with boldnes=
s, wisdom, and unwavering confidence in Your promises. Lead me, guide me,=
and establish my steps. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.=0D
